[San Francisco, CA] 8.1.05 Bay Area legend Andre Nickatina was selected as the 2005 Underground Artist of The Year at the 2005 Bay Area Hip Hop Awards on July 30, 2005.
Nickatina, who released his critically acclaimed Horns and Halos album with Equipto in May 2005, was not available to accept his award but was pleased to be recognized by his peers, fans and the selection group. "Its cool

Nickatinas award was accepted by partner in rhyme Equipto, who thanked the fans and gave honor to Nickatinas family. Nickatina was also nominated for underground album of the year for his 2004 release, Bullets, Blunts and Ah Big Bank Roll.
The Underground Artist of The Year is a critical victory for Nickatina as one of the few OG Rappers who has been around since the late 80s, but remains relevant and on the cutting edge of what Hip-Hop and Rap consumers want to hear and buy today.
Nickatina is one of the busiest people you will meet as he is currently working multiple business ventures with a strict travel schedule and has been available primarily by telephone. He will headline the all ages Horns and Halos II Tour beginning in the fall and is excited to begin recording more music and working on more film projects soon. "Im in the studio and meeting with business partners here and there staying busy livin life," says Nickatina.
